Classy Moments from Cabe Middle SchoolPublished Wednesday, January 17, 2001 in the Gurdon TimesWe had an extended vacation over the holidays as you probably know. After three weeks out of school it seems as though the students were ready to get back in class. Several students shared experiences of "being in the dark" during the power failure. Also, some must have really fooled Santa this year after hearing about some of the presents they received for Christmas. The cafeteria, band hall and girls' rest room experienced a broken water line during the ice storm. Such a mess. Water did not go all the way into the cafeteria, but into the storage room where freezers, etc. are kept. The carpet in the band hall was really in bad shape from all of the water. Hopefully, in a few days all will be well again. Maintenance personnel, Terry Purifoy and Bryan Watson, are always busy with the various jobs they do. We appreciate them so much. Also, we express thank you for all of the patience they have with us. "Schedule change." I would imagine that Mr. Alexander has heard those words often enough that he will never forget them. The second semester brought about the need to make class changes for a lot of the students. That kept Mr. Alexander busy for several days. The secret Santa was a big success. Such nice gifts were given to those teachers who participated in the fun. I know one teacher who is so proud of her Mickey Mouse jacket. A big thank you to Ms. Dickens. Wonder how she knew it would be enjoyed so much? We are waiting to hear what the school board decides to do about making up the days we missed due to the ice storm. Hopefully, we won't miss spring break. Ice storm, sleet and snow may cause us to miss a day or so for school, but just remember we will always be making those Classy Moments at CMS.
