Rosston NewsMARGUERITE WILLIAMSPublished Wednesday, January 10, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune It's been a while and lots of things have happened, but I'm back. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. We tried to have a family get-together on Christmas Day, but due to the ice storm we didn't get to have it. We planned again for Christmas on New Year's Eve at our son Jimmy's house in Prescott, but due to the second ice storm only about half of our family got there. I think we will set the time for next Christmas on the 4th of July. God is still in control of everything, so we have to accept it as it comes. We had an abundance of smoked ribs at our get-together and now we're ten pounds heavier. My brother and his wife of Hope got to our house on Tuesday night to have Christmas with us and we went to Camden Saturday and had Christmas supper with Roscoe's sister there. Roscoe and I visited Saturday with Max and Lyn Dean Morman and their daughter Tammy at St. Michael. Max has had several bad days, so please remember them in your prayers. Cindy Jackson had a wreck on her way home from work Sunday afternoon. She was taken to Medical Park Hospital in Hope, then on to St. Michael in Texarkana. Our pastor, Bro. Mark Faulkner, and his wife Stacy had lunch and supper with us Sunday. After supper they, Johnny and Brenda Jensen and Joey Wallace went to St. Michael to see the Jacksons and to check on the Max Mormans. Bill Freeman has been in St. Michael for several days, but got back home on Friday. He is due to start another series of treatments this week. Remember him, Maxine and their family when you talk to the Lord. Dot and Paul Broussard have been sick with a virus they caught while visiting in Florida. Mary Smith has also been sick with a virus. Bro. Mark brought a wonderful message Sunday morning and we had good attendance. We were happy to have Royce Dixon back in service. She recently lost her mother. Aunt Artie Hart of Pinehope Nursing Home in Hope passed away. The funeral was last week at Rosston Church with Bro. Jim Cross officiating. Burial was in Caney Cemetery. If she had lived until next month she would have been 101 years old. It's really sad when you don't have any children, but there was a good crowd of nieces, nephews and a few friends. We have been enjoying the electricity, water and telephones, but lots of people still don't have these conveniences, so we are very thankful for ours. Doug and Rhonda Morgan of Camden were our guests Saturday night; we took them to Crossroads Buffet for supper. God rules in such a way that everything comes to us not by chance, but by his fatherly hand. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
