Bluff City

I think everyone's eyes and nose are getting overworked trying to filter out the pollen in the air. But there are some things to admire about this time of the year. New life is bursting forth from the dormant plants and beautiful flowers and dogwood blossoms decorate the lawns and forests as nature begins a new cycle. Maybe we should take a lesson from Mother Nature and forget the problems of the past and get off to a fresh start.

Joanie Sellers, granddaughter of Bill and Kay Sellers, has returned to school after being in the Children's Hospital in Little Rock for several days for treatment of a diabetic condition.

Glen Walker, a former resident of Bluff City, is undergoing tests and treatment in the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. He is the brother of Bill Walker and Nell Wanda McKelvy of Bluff City.

Andy and Elizabeth Nelson and daughters, Lauren and Lexi, visited James and Kay Nelson Easter weekend.

We had another burial at Bluff City Cemetery on April 2. Daniel Starnes of Camden passed away suddenly from an aneurysm. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Starnes of Camden and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Starnes and was only 18 years old. Our sympathy is extended to this family.

Millard and Elloene McBride visited their daughter, Norma, in El Dorado last Sunday and attended a special church program while there.

There has been some turkey talk in the neighborhood as turkey season begins. I'm not sure if it's from the hunters planning their strategy or from the old gobblers giving advice to their sons on how to avoid getting shot. Be careful if you're in the woods and don't shoot unless you are sure it's a turkey.

Doris Barlow enjoyed a camping trip with some of her family last weekend.

This week's thought: 'Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.'
