HAZEL MEEKS
Published Wednesday, January 10, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune

Something old, something new and I'm sure most of this is something old. Due to no electricity and no phone, we couldn't find out much news.

Bud and Sandy Loe had their family for Christmas, her mom and dad, Willie and Julene Hulan, Bob and Earnestine Kosh from Hope and their daughter Shanna from Hot Springs, and Sandy's brother Bill and his family from Gurdon.

Charity, Randy and Caleb Lowdermilk hosted Christmas at their house. Those attending were Betty Wilson, Margaret and J.D. Wilson from Hot Springs Village, Chris and Ginger from Dallas, Casey from Mississippi, and Bill Woodell and family from Pine Bluff.

Tommy Ghormley from Little Rock celebrated Christmas and his birthday with his parents, Paul and Linda Ghormley.

Those spending Christmas with Junior and Kay Hendrix were Joe and Courtney from Tulsa, Linda Ghormley and family, Wilma Compton, Shannon and David Henderson, and Darlene, Jerry and Bryan.

Bobby and Agnes Morrow and two sons, Dustin and Corey, spent Christmas with relatives in Lexington, Ky. They also visited her mother, Dora Wilcher, in McMinnville, Tenn.

Most people in this community remember Ruth Holder Newth and will be sorry to hear she is a patient in the Hope hospital.

Our sympathy goes to the family of Lucy Taylor. Her three boys, Harvey, Bobby and Ralph, and one daughter, Betty Sue Robertson, lost a good friend.

Thais was happy to have her granddaughter visit her during the holidays. Jennifer and James Henry from Tulsa spent Tuesday night with her and Jackie and Jane spent Saturday night before Christmas.

Dale and Ann Wylie from Hope, Mike and Connie Cox from Camden and Cathy and Beau from Houston enjoyed the holidays with their parents, Pershing and Mary Cox.

Doug and Peggy Burley were well enough to have all their family at their home in Houston for Christmas.

John and Dawn McLelland had all their family for Christmas, including his mother, Thais McLelland.

Ricky and Nancy Burke were very glad to have their daughter, Kristie, and her family at their home during the Christmas holidays. While here they celebrated three birthdays with a family birthday party. Helping Brayden, age 9, Shelby, age 3, and Bradley Joe, age 2, celebrate their birthdays were great grandparents, Joe and Doris Burke, Uncle Mike, Aunt Sissy and Jason Burke, Uncle Steve, Aunt Genevieve, Derek, Lindsey and Daniel Burke and Uncle Hershal and Aunt Ginger Clover. Kristie, Shawn, Brayden, Ashlie, Shelby and Bradley Joe flew back to Newport, N.C. on Friday, December 29.
