What a Christmas! We have had plenty of ice! Now we've had our snow. Everything was knocked out no lights, no phone. Our water froze. You could not go outside for anything. But thank God for gas, we made it. I agree with the correspondent from Bluff City. It did give the young people an idea of what life was like in the old days before electricity. People who had all electric homes really did suffer. They had to go stay with their neighbors who had gas or wood fire places. Thank God they made it. Most people lost their food in the freezer. This turned out to be a lot since most don't can anymore. We really have a story to tell. You felt like crying when you did get out and see how trees fell across the roads and power lines. I do not see how we survived. I was supposed to have Christmas dinner with my nieces and nephews in Mineral Springs Christmas day. I talked with one of them. They said if I had made the trip I would had to stay two or three days before they could bring me home. God is trying to show us something. We still have something to thank God for. It could have been a lot worse. People who had their timber cleared did the right thing.

Roosevelt Gulley (Jack) died Wednesday, January 3. He was born in 1927 in Rosston to Ruby and Spine Gulley. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and five brothers. Services were held Sunday, January 7. Burial was at New Salem Cemetery in Rosston. Most of his life was spent in the nursing home in Prescott, Hope, Nashville and Benton. He was put away nicely.

Oak Grove Baptist Church really did have a good service. Half of them were young people. They are really turning out under the leadership of their new pastor Rev. Parsha from Stephens. He had one member to dedicate his life and said he is going to do better. We have been searching for leadership.

I think after all this ice we all are going to do better living. If you are down I am down. Let's pray for each other, help one another. Remember you are not going to be young always.
