Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
Golden OldiesDORIS VANCEPublished Wednesday, January 10, 2001 in the Gurdon Times The center is finally getting back to normal after the terrible weather we have had. It has been wonderful to see the sunshine. Our Valentine King and Queen contest is on the way. The candidates chosen by the center are Jimmy and Patsy Stiffler, Dr. George and Jean Peeples, and Ross Carter and Mildred Ferguson. The couple who raises the most money will be our King and Queen. February 14 will also be the 26th year of the centers being in Gurdon. Next week the music makers will sing at Twin Rivers, Bill Allen will play the piano for us on Wednesday, and the square dancers will dance with Tommy Hays calling. Our activity director, Royce Ann Barbaree, is doing a good job planning our activities. We would like to invite those 60 and over to come and join us. You can enjoy a good hot meal for a $1 donation and visit with your friends also. The center is a program of the Central Arkansas Development Council and a United Way Agency.
