The Lady Hornets clipped Bradley's Lady Bears 42-41 with Keshia Gilliam nailing a free throw with eight seconds left in the game, as she was fouled while driving to the basket. The Lady Bears had taken the lead with a minute to go. When Blevins in bounded the ball, the Lady Hornets held it for the last shot to try for the win. The game opened with the Lady Bears taking a 12-8 lead in the first quarter, and led 25-21 when the buzzer sounded at halftime. However, the third quarter was won by Blevins as the Lady Hornets took a slim 34-33 lead and held it for the rest of the contest. Bradley came into the game as the defending Class A state champs. This win, though, allowed Blevins to avenge an earlier season loss at the hands of the Lady Bears, 60-46, at the Genoa Tournament. The Lady Hornets had a rough go in the final eight minutes as the team's leading scorer, Allison Jordan, fouled out in the third with only four points to her credit. But, Keta Rodgers picked up the slack and poured in 16 for the Lady Hornets, while Kayla Jordan contributed 12. Larry led Bradley with 14, with Harris scoring 11. The Lady Hornets went to the line for 26 free throws and connected on 16. Bradley hit 10 of 18 from the stripe. BLEVINS 63 NASHVILLE 26 The Lady Hornets made it to the finals by whipping the host team, Nashville, 63-26, after having a first-round bye and not playing Monday. Halftime arrived with the Lady Hornets in complete control, 46-15, while Blevins pushed its lead further by the end of the third, 58-23. However, when the second period began, the Lady Hornets heated up, with everybody wearing a uniform getting into the game in the second half. Eight of the10 members of the team scored against the helpless Scrapperettes. Allison Jordan led all scorers with 19, while Rodgers and Gilliam added 14 each. Blevins hit 18 of 30 free throws, while Nashville was three of six at the line. At this time, the Lady Hornets have an impressive 19-2 overall record.
