Caney NewsRUBY WICKERPublished Wednesday, January 3, 2001 in the Nevada County Picayune Last week's news: Winter began officially Thursday. Unofficially I think it began before that. Margie Reed, Dorothy Langston, Ruthie Sherbert and I made a trip to Nashville, Tenn., last week with Francis Custom Tours of Arkadelphia. We stayed at the Opryland Hotel. We stayed an extra day because of the bad weather conditions there. We came home Thursday to find we had no electricity in Caney. It's hard to run a household without it. Wanda Wicker and son, Steve, drove to Pensacola, Fla., last week to visit Rusty Wicker and family. Rusty has joined the Blue Angels support crew, which I understand is quiet an honor. Wanda and Steve will be returning home shortly. Shirley Wicker Hendrix has graduated from Murray State College in Murray, Ky., with a bachelor's degree in science and history. Bro. Junior Loe visited his doctor last week and got a good report. Members of Morris Baptist Church had potluck at Church Sunday and delivered fruit baskets Sunday afternoon. TNT kids and their sponsors of Morris Baptist Church presented a meaningful Christmas program of song and story Sunday evening. Cannon, Heather and Ryan, Janice Callicott, Phyllis, Cyril, Brandon and April Stewart and I attended the rehearsal dinner for my granddaughter, Emily Sweat, and Brandon Smith Friday evening in Nashville. We also attended their wedding Saturday evening at the First Methodist Church in Nashville. Emily was a beautiful bride and they had a beautiful wedding. The senior adult Sunday school class of Morris Baptist Church had their Christmas potluck at the home of Lucy Glass Monday evening. Dorothy Apel, Ritta McBride, Lucy Glass, Margie Reed and I met with the SAMS at the Broadway Railroad Cafi for the Christmas luncheon. Others attending were Glenda Westmoreland, Margaret, Almond, Elizabeth Murrah, Ethel Ellis Junior and Johnie Glass, Mary Overton and Lois Pierce. The young adults Sunday school class of Morris Baptist Church had their Christmas potluck Tuesday evening at the home of Lucy Glass. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
