Ice Storm Blankets Southwest ArkansasBY RICKY RAGSDALEPublished Wednesday, December 27, 2000 in the Gurdon Times An ice storm blanketed Gurdon, Clark County and all of southwest Arkansas Christmas day and the day after. Due to the severe inclement weather The Gurdon Times was not able to publish its regular issues December 27. Even though the Times is locally owned by the Ragsdale family, the newspaper prints at the Hope Star. The I-30 corridor was completely iced down and Hope was without electricity until late Thursday evening. Other presses in southwest Arkansas were also without power, which prevented the newspaper from being printed elsewhere. This week's Times was printed Friday night, December 29. Since New Year's Day was Monday, the office scheduled to be closed anyway, it just couldn't be announced last week due to the power failure. We apologize to our readers and hope you understand the unfortunate situation that has affected us all. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
