Money Raised For Arkansas Children's HospitalPublished Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneArea loggers and Potlatch Corporation sponsored a fundraiser fish fry for the Arkansas Children's Hospital April 30, at the Nevada County Fairgrounds where more than 565 people attended to make this event a great success. Potlatch Corporation donated a load of logs shown in the picture for the event. There is no way we can personally thank everyone whom attended or donated. Accept this as a thanks for your support in a program that will benefit each of us sooner or later. The money raised was sent by the Arkansas Forestry Association in Little Rock to be part of a check presented May 30 on the Children's Miracle Network Telethon, which will be broadcast with live local segments from KTHV Channel 11 in Little Rock. The statewide goal for this year is $350,000. This money goes into an endowment fund, where only the interest is used money this year is earmarked to sponsor the Cardiac Care Unit at Arkansas Children's Hospital. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
