Group Visits MarshallPublished Wednesday, December 13, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneFifty-one Extension Homemakers Club members of Nevada County, along with their guests, traveled to Marshall, Texas, Saturday, December 9, to tour the Wonderland of Lights, which was arranged by Sybil Sherman, director of the Prescott Trailblazers. When the group arrived in Marshall they toured and shopped at the Marshall Pottery. At 5:30 that evening a professional step-on guide gave them a narrated two-hour tour of the lights. Over 900 miles of Christmas lights trail through Marshall from the courthouse square, business district to entire neighborhoods. Displays included a pottery nativity scene, lighted carousel orchestra of angels and church of the bells. Those making the trip from Prescott were Sherman, Glenda Stuart, Candace Carrie, Gail Stewart, Joyce and Bobbie Hall, Joyce Tyree, Mary Lou Grimes, Lois McCain, Helen Harrison, Sophia Taylor, Lois Shipp, Willie Mae Muldrew, Mary and Goriee Smith, Vickie and George Darrell Glass, Pat Purtle, Bobbie Gautsche, Polly Phillips, Virginia Easterling, Lois McAnally, Nell Avery, Bobbie Brown, Pat Wilson, Hazel Paden, Marvelle Crayton, Carolyn Stovall, and Laurice Montgomery. Several from Bluff City went. They were Ruth Sullivan, Linda Carman, Marguerite and James Tomlin, Agnes Stone, Hazel Plyler, Mary Summers, Kay Sellers, Ruth Bumpass, Becky Meador and Florence Hardwick. Others going from Nevada County were Bennie Purtle of Sutton; Bonnie Lawler of Bodcaw; and Sylvester Lawson of Emmet. Others going were Juanita Carrie of Camden; Sarah Ward, Linda Powers, Mary Moore and Norman Dutrisac of Ashdown; Jenna Glass of Hope; Mable Waddell of Texarkana; Fran Arnold of Little Rock; and David Richardson of Shreveport, La.
