Nevada County Picayune and Gurdon Times Newspaper Archive |
Redland NewsHAZEL MEEKSPublished Wednesday, December 13, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune I get so discouraged trying to find news, so please help or I must give it up. The least little news means so much to those who used to live here. Our sympathy goes to the family of Kent Williams. He lost his wife Saturday. L.C. and Billie Ann Gass from Chicksha, Okla., recently visited her mother Allene Taylor. LaNell Nash has returned from a week's visit with her sister, LaVerne Masters, in Bismarck. Casey Hendrix, we are still pulling for you. I understand he comes home from Little Rock almost every week to deer hunt and they just won't stand still long enough for him to shoot. Good luck. Cathy Straley from McKinny, Texas, is spending this week with her parents, Pershing and Mary Cox. Her mother is quiet ill, but glad to report she is slowly improving. Peggy and Toney from Camden also visited Pershing and Mary on Sunday. Hard work really paid off for all the effort put forth on the Shady Grove Baptist Church Christmas float. They won first place. Congratulations. Katy Cox and Katy Wilson attended the Christmas school dance on Thursday night. Sandy Loe visited Pershing and Mary Cox on Sunday and had the pleasure showing Mary a quilt she was working on. Mary always liked things of that sort. We are pleased to let everyone know Pat and Donald Ingersol have moved into their new home. They bought it from Frances Bidwell and they have remodeled it and it really looks like a completely new place. Lola Cagle from Dallas came in for the weekend and spent one night with her brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Betty. She really came to attend the Christmas Cantata at Central Baptist Church. Boughton Baptist Church members surprised one of their former pastors, Bro. Junior Thrasher, whose health is not good at all. Bro. Thrasher was really pleased and surprised to have them visit them. About 45 from Shady Grove Baptist Church went to Hot Springs on Friday night to see all the beautiful displays of lights. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
