Breakfast with Santa is this Saturday at the Potlatch building at the Prescott Fairgrounds from 8-10 a.m.

Mary Godwin, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, said this is the second year for this event, which is open to children up to age 12.

There is no cost for Breakfast with Santa, but, she said, those attending are asked to bring a canned good or other non-perishable item to get in. This will later be donated to an area needy family.

Once inside, the children, along with mom and dad, can have a breakfast consisting of a sausage biscuit, doughnut hole, milk and orange juice.

After breakfast the youngsters can visit a variety of booths, or spend a little time with a special visitor from the North Pole Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Those wanting to have their pictures taken with Santa will have to pay $2 to help cover the cost of film. Otherwise, children can visit with St. Nick from 8-10 a.m. with no problem.

They can also write him a letter telling what they want for Christmas this year, and mail it right there.

The activities available include face painting, making reindeer food for Santa's helpers as they pull the sleigh around the world Christmas Eve, make ornaments, design their own Christmas card, decorate cookies, make Christmas necklaces, paint holiday designs on their fingernails and participate in a coloring contest. The winners of this event will be presented prizes. Godwin said there will be four divisions for the coloring contest. There will also be Bingo with prizes for the winners.

In addition, there will be a story-time with "Twas the Night Before Christmas" being read.

Godwin said tables and chairs will be set up for the parents who want to stay with their children throughout the event, with holiday music playing in the background.
