News That Matters To GurdonPublished Wednesday, December 13, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesChristmas Eve sunrise services will be held at St. Clair Missionary Baptist Church at Burtsell Sunday, Dec. 24, at 6:00 a.m. Special guests will be First Baptist Church of Okolona. The message will be delivered by Rev. Eddie Brown, pastor. Rev. Columbus Osby of Hot Srpings will be the special guest minister at the regular Sunday morning worship service. O Christmas Tree, a children's musical Christmas program, will be performed at First Assembly of God, 1007 East Main, Gurdon, on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 6:00 p.m. A time of Christmas cheer and fellowship will follow the program. Everyone is invited. Dance to the music of The Music Makers' at the Senior Adult Center in Arkadelphia Thursday, Dec. 14, from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Admission will be $3 per person with finger foods available. Arkansas Rehabilitation Services is offering sessions with Karen Bailey at the Gurdon Municipal Building Dec. 8 and 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Call 501-623-4479 for more information. The Oak Grove Community Church in the Kansas community will be giving out fruit Sunday morning, Dec. 17. Gurdon Primary School's "word of the month" for December is compassion. Compassion is the desire to help others. The Church of God on Carrie St. with Pastor Ivory Curry will present its Christmas program today, Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698.
