J.W. GillsLATIMER FUNERAL HOME of NASHVILLEPublished Wednesday, December 13, 2000 in the Gurdon Times J.W. Gills, 74, of Nashville died Monday, December 4, 2000, at his home. Mr. Gills was born September 15, 1926, in Gurdon the son of the late Louis Wain and Mollie Pugh Gills. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of First Baptist Church in Nashville, the V.F.W. and the Nashville Volunteer Fire Department. He was a retired railroad engineer for GN&A Railroad. Ne is preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Gills Castleberry, and a brother, H.C. Gills.Mr. Gills is survived by his wife, Muriel Gills of Nashville; three sons, Phillip Gills of Nashville, Lewis Gills of Murfreesboro and Gary Gills of Nashville; a daughter, Suzanne Montgomery of Nashville; a brother, Leonard Gills of Gurdon; 11 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services were held Wednesday, Dec. 6, at First Baptist Church in Nashville with Dr. David Blase officiating. Services were under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
