A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott at the courthouse December 28.

Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213.

To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376.

For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour.

A coffee and ribbon-cutting will be held at Nevada County Picayune Thursday, December 7, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 10:00. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited.

An open house will be held that evening immediately following the Christmas parade as part of the Chamber of Commerce's Christmas on the Square celebration. Jessica Jackson, Jordan Lacey and RC Ragsdale, grandchildren of John and Betty Ragsdale, will sing Christmas carols during this open house.

Nevada County Friends of the Library will meet December 7 at 5:00 p.m. This meeting is the annual meeting. New board members will be selected and officers will be elected for the upcoming year.

Heather and Cannon Callicott of Prescott are proud to announce the birth of their son, Ryan Stephen, born Monday, November 27, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Ryan weighed 11 pounds and 1= ounces and he was 20> inches long.

Grandparents are Buddy and Beverly Loe of Laneburg and Don and Janice Callicott of Caney. Great grandparents are Ruthie Shewbirt of Prescott and Ruby Wicker and Lindel and Inez Callicott, all of Caney.

Garrett Memorial Baptist Church in Hope will be hosting the Hope evangelistic crusade with evangelist Ken Freeman December 10-13.

The church is located at I-30 and Highway 278W in Hope. Services begin at 11:00 Sunday morning and at 7 p.m., continuing through Wednesday. For additional information call 870-777-3256.

Derric Arnold and Erika Haynie are proud to announce the birth of their daughter on November 23, 2000.

Grandparents are Dorrie Blakely, Cedrick Williams, Linda Flemons and Douglas Terry Arnold.

Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce would like to invite you to the ribbon-cutting for Prescott Big Star today, Wednesday, December 6, at 8:30 a.m.

The grand opening celebration begins today also. There will be prizes and special prices throughout the store.

The Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Christmas parade will be Thursday, December 7, at 6 p.m. in downtown Prescott.

Christmas on the Square will be at the courthouse after the parade. The Snowball Avalanche will be the last event of the night activities at the courthouse.

A community coffee and annual open house at the Senior Citizens Center, 304 East Vine Street in Prescott, will be held Thursday, December 7, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Refreshments will be served. Register for door prizes.
