Prescott's junior basketball teams had a short stint in the Blevins Junior Tournament last week.

Both the girls and boys were eliminated Thursday, Nov. 30. The Cubettes fell to Nashville, while the Cubs were beaten by a surprising Hope eighth grade team.

NASHVILLE 28

The Cubettes won the tip to get the game underway, and scoring first.

The next four points, though, were scored by the Scrapperettes as neither team shot particularly well in the opening period.

This changed in the second quarter as Nashville's offense begin to click, while Prescott continued to struggle from the field.

Prescott did tie the game at 4-4 with 4:19 left in the half, but was outscored 10-2 for the remainder of the frame, as the Scrapperettes were able to do more in the paint.

Halftime arrived with Nashville holding a 14-6 lead.

The Cubettes got the ball to start the third quarter and managed to score on a free throw to cut the margin to 14-7 with 5:14 to go.

Neither team took care of the ball, as there were numerous turnovers on both sides.

When the Cubettes did manage to score, the points were well earned as they had to fight, scrap and claw for each and every one.

Quarter three came to an end with Nashville leading 21-9.

The Scrapperettes attacked mercilessly on defense, tying up Prescott ball handlers at every opportunity and slapping at the ball otherwise.

This kept the Cubettes off balance as Nashville posted a 28-15 win. But, at no point did Prescott's girls ever give up or show signs of quitting.

HOPE 46

This was a game where the younger players were able to show their elders a thing or two as the eighth grade Bobkittens posted a 46-34 win over Prescott's ninth grade Cubs.

The teams were evenly matched where size was concerned, and both were aggressive on both sides of the ball.

However, the Kittens were able to score where Prescott couldn't.

Hope won the tip and scored, adding two more before Prescott got on the board to make it 4-2 with 3:59 showing.

From there, though, the Cubs were almost shut out while Hope went on a 14-2 run.

A good part of the problem was Hope's press. It forced the Cubs into turnovers and bad plays.

At the end of one, Hope led 18-4.

Right off the bat Prescott lost the ball at the start of the second quarter, as the press continued causing problems for the Cubs.

Fouls started piling up against the Kittens as the Hope players tended to hack at the ball. But it did little good for the Cubs as they had problems at the line.

With 2:17 left in the half, Hope led 24-6, and outscored Prescott 6-2 to make it 30-8 at the half.

Prescott managed to win the second half, outscoring Hope 26-16, but it wasn't enough to make up the difference in the first half Hope lead.

The Cubs utilized the press in the third quarter as they began to chip away at the Hope lead.

Period three came to an end with Prescott down 40-20, but still fighting.

In the fourth quarter the Cubs scored five quick points, only to see Hope return the favor.

It was an up and down game until the 2:50 point, with the score 46-26. Then the Cubs went on a tear adding eight more points to their tally, while keeping the Kittens in check.
