Nevada Quiz Bowl Team Does Well In Competition

Students of the Nevada Quiz Bowl Teams had a very enjoyable day at the Arkansas History Quiz Bowl Tournament, held at the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope on Friday, April 30.

The competition involved students from Bright Star, Spring Hill, Bradley, Emmet, Prescott, Delight, Texarkana, Fouke and Nevada school districts.

The fifth and sixth grade team (Brian Maroon, David Williams, Russell Smith, Brittany Baker and Brandon Love) brought the third place trophy home.

Their games began by playing Fouke. The second game was with Delight. Both teams scored 155 at the end of the fourth quarter. Delight won with the tie breaker question.

This put Nevada's fifth and sixth grade team in the position to play for third place. They played Bradley and won.

The seventh grade team (Kristi Taylor, Eli Carlew, Zach Niemeyer, Coy Tucker, Katrina Burson, Phillip Cooper, Cody Brooks and Jessica Potts) won their first game, played with Bright Star. Their second game was played with Spring Hill.

The eight grade team (Christi Lambert, Jessica Almand, Erica Gibson, ReCarlos Robinson, Tyrunza Heard, Krystal Walker, and Elisha Shewbirt) started their games by playing Spring Hill. Nevada won the game. Their second game was with Fouke. The third game was played with Prescott. The fourth game which determined first or second place was played with Delight.

The eighth grade Nevada team won the second place trophy.

The students had a wonderful time.
