Holiday Concert Set By Gurdon BandsPublished Wednesday, December 6, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesThe Gurdon School bands Christmas concert this year will be held in the high school cafeteria at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14. The concert will feature beginner band, intermediate band and the high school concert band. There will also be some guest soloist singing with band accompaniment. The concert is always free to the public, but band director Alan Wimberly encourages people to take a canned food or non-perishable item to the concert. Bradley Weems, a junior at GHS, made the prestigious Region III jazz band. He had stiff competition, yet his work ethic and determination helped him make the prestigious organization for the second consecutive year, Wimberly reports.
