A 19-year-old Gurdon man has been charged with two counts of residential burglary in connection with an incident at Gurdon High School.

Andrew Darnell Bell was arrested Sunday, Nov. 19, by the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

However, a Gurdon Police officer on routine patrol first spotted Bell walking away from GHS. As the officer drove up, Bell ran into the woods and tried to hide.

It didn't work as he was found and held by the officer until the CCSO arrived. At this time, a search was made of GHS and it was determined a burglary had occurred.

Several items belonging to the school were found by deputies Sunday and sheriff's investigators found still more Sunday night and Monday morning, Nov. 20.

Bell was then charged with two counts of commercial burglary, a class C felony. This carries a possible sentence of 3 to 10 years in the state prison. He was also charged with misdemeanor offenses of theft of property and possession of an instrument of crime.

He is being held in the Clark County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
