Alliance Builders of Oklahoma City, Okla., will provide the Prescott School District with the building for its new gym.

At a special meeting of the Prescott School Board Tuesday, Nov. 14, the panel was told three bids had been submitted for the metal building portion of the gym.

Superintendent Ron Wright said Gulf States, of Sherwood, had a bid of $202,185, but after deductions, this amount was lowered to $183,000.

Tyler Metal Buildings of Tyler, Texas, had the next bid of $189,264 while the Alliance bid was for $171,549.

Wright told the board all of the buildings were basically the same and were required to meet the same specifications to bid.

The building will be ordered from Alliance, with the company starting production on it.

Before work on this structure begins, though, construction crews will have to drill and set piers for the foundation.

Wright said plans are to drill and pour concrete at the same time for the piers.

Once this is done, he told the board, the building should be in the dry within a couple of months. Then work on the interior of the structure can begin.

In all, the project is expected to be completed in time for the 2001 basketball season.

Wright reminded the board six items had been left off when the original bidding process was done. Now, there are five items to be bid before the project is completed.
