News That Mattters To GurdonPublished Wednesday, November 22, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesA new organization, Citizens For Youth, met for the second time at City Hall on Nov. 14 to continue plans for recreational activities for the town's youth. The organization needs your help. The next meeting will be Dec. 5 at 7:15 p.m. at City Hall and you are invited to give your suggestions and assistance. The Gurdon Senior Adult Center has openings on the home delivered meal program. To be eligible for a hot meal to be delivered to the home a person must be at least 60 years of age and be homebound. For more information call the center at 353-2095. The Gurdon Senior Adult Center is a program of Central Arkansas Development Council. The children of Thomas Reece Lee invite family and friends to a 90th birthday celebration to be held in the fellowship hall of Gurdon First Baptist Church Saturday, Dec. 2, from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. For more information contact Dianne Coston, Norman Lee, Buddy Lee or Margaret Lee-Patterson. Curtis Assembly of God Church will be holding revival services Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24-26, with services at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Rev. Stacy Floyd will be bringing the message. The board of directors of Central Arkansas Development Council will meet Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Ramada Inn at 218 Park Ave. in Hot Springs at 1:00 p.m. Interested persons are invited to attend. Gurdon Masonic lodge members are invited to meet Saturday, Nov. 18, for two E.A. degrees and a chili supper beginning at 6:00 p.m. Arkadelphia 2025 Commission will be meeting Thursday, Nov. 30, at 4:00 p.m. in the commission's office at 522 Clay Street. Public is invited to attend. The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend. The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698. Narcotics Anonymous meets in Gurdon every Fridays from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 206 East Main. For more information, call 353-6714.
