House Destroyed By FirePHOTO BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 22, 2000 in the Gurdon Times HOME DESTROYED Fire destroyed a house at 6th and Dean streets in Gurdon Thursday, Nov. 16. The call came in around 8:30 a.m., but firefighters found the house completely engulfed in flames when they arrived. Two trucks poured water on the fire for more than an hour, as flames would emerge in different locations. The house was owned by Henry Bell Jr., but was being rented by Reggie Hunter. According to Gurdon Fire Chief Jake McBride, the most likely cause of the fire was either a propane heater in the living room or an electric heater in the bathroom.
