Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376. For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour. Diabetic education will have its next meeting Thursday, Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Extension Homemakers kitchen at the Clark County Fairgrounds, one mile south of Arkadelphia on Highway 67. The meeting is about artificial sweeteners with the speaker being Rosemary Rodibaugh, food and nutrition specialist, Cooperative Extension, University of Arkansas. The meeting will be sponsored by AllCare Pharmacy and Nevada County Cooperative Extension. If anyone needs transportation from Prescott meet at the extension office between 1:00 and 1:15. On November 10 at 10 a.m. Beverly Healthcare of Prescott will be celebrating Veterans Day with a flag ceremony and guest speakers. Free health screenings will be offered to the public. Everyone is invited to attend for refreshments and fellowship. The Nevada School District will have its monthly board meeting in the school library Thursday, November 16, at 7 p.m. The agenda includes audience with individuals or groups; resolutions; new business, which includes financial statements for period ending October 31; October warrants; personnel; bus bids; and student transfer and announcements. The Hempstead County Parkinson's disease support group will meet today, Wednesday, November 15, at 1:30 p.m. in the McClarty room at the Train Depot. Lydia Stevens, R.N., Coordinator for the APDA Information and Referral Center in Hot Springs, will be the speaker. Patients and caregivers are encouraged to attend. Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Cale will be having a revival meeting beginning Sunday, November 19. It will continue through Tuesday, November 21. Meeting time is 7:00 each evening. Bro. Stan Kesterson will be the evangelist. The public is invited to attend. The Prescott School District Education Association will host the monthly Chamber of Commerce coffee Friday, November 17, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the consumer science and health (home economics) building at Prescott High School. The public is invited to attend and to have breakfast with this group. A coffee and ribbon-cutting will be held at Nevada County Picayune Thursday, December 7, from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. The ribbon-cutting will take place at 10:00. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited. An open house will be held that evening immediately following the Christmas parade as part of the Chamber of Commerce's Christmas on the Square celebration. Jessica Jackson, Jordan Lacey and RC Ragsdale, grandchildren of John and Betty Ragsdale, will sing Christmas carols during this open house.
