4-H NewsPublished Wednesday, November 15, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Nevada County 4-H Livestock Club met Tuesday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m. for its regularly scheduled monthly meeting at the Extension office in Prescott. A record 25 young people attended the meeting with eight adults. The group elected officers for the upcoming year. The club also finalized plans for December, which include: A cookie making day. Cookies will be made by the 4-H club members and delivered by the 4-H'ers to supporters of 4-H throughout the county. A day to make Christmas cards for nursing home residents. Christmas card delivery and Christmas caroling at both Prescott nursing homes just prior to the Christmas holidays. A fund-raising project was discussed, but was tabled until a future meeting. Pictures from the Nevada County Fair premium sale were given to members who had exhibited livestock at the sale. At the conclusion of the business meeting the club's Cloverbud members (children aged 5-9) played a game to identify things from nature by feel. The older members held a mock Presidential election. The club meets the first Tuesday of each month at the Extension office. If you or someone you know is interested in joining 4-H contact the Nevada County Cooperative Extension office at 887-2818.
