Cornelius Horse Is FinalistPublished Wednesday, November 15, 2000 in the Nevada County PicayuneMs. Dani Echols, a sorrel mare owned by Jim L. Cornelius of Prescott, was a top 10 finalist in team penning at the 2000 American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) World Championship Show held November 5-18 in Oklahoma City, Okla. "This is the most prestigious of all American quarter horse shows," said Bill Brewer, AQHA executive vice president. "Earning the title of top ten finalist is an achievement that will stand out on the performance record of Ms. Dani Echols." The AQHA world championship show is the largest, richest, world championship horse show in existence, with $1.78 million awarded to 3,604 entries from 49 states, six Canadian provinces, England, Germany, Italy, Mexico and the Netherlands. Horses must have earned a predetermined number of points between August 1, 1999, and July 31, 2000, to qualify for the invitational competition.
