Classy Moments from CMS

Published Wednesday, November 8, 2000 in the Gurdon Times

Several students were busy trying to keep others from seeing their school pictures. Now, that is difficult to understand as they are really good pictures. For some retakes were made and we will be anxious to see those. We have a great looking group of students and we are proud of each one of them.

Stanford 9 scores were sent home by the students last week on Thursday. Parents, you might want to look over the scores with your child. Any questions you have concerning the results, please call the school at 353-4311.

We had some strange looking visitors Tuesday. Some witches, princesses, several members of Dracula's family, monsters and a variety of others.

There was this one, however, we just don't know why he choose our school to attend. Can you imagine someone trying to look like a member of a professional football team from Tennessee? Well, he arrived early and spent the entire day at Cabe Middle School. Oh, yes, he had the helmet, football and lots of padding. (Don't know why he wore extra' padding.) What we have to put up with is beyond any expectations. Thank goodness Halloween only comes once a year.

The eighth graders were complaining about having three tests in one day, can you imagine? Christina Daniels was overheard saying "The last time I prayed about a test, I made a bad grade." Amy Stiffler, Christa Hopson, Melanie Shults, Britta Halliday and Jordan Purifoy were so busy studying for those tests, just hope they made good grades. Now, if I really told you what they were studying. Oh, I do believe that I overheard a few comments about the study guide.

The campaign committees are really busy getting ready for the political convention to be held on Monday. In fact by the time you read this the results of the CMS election and the national election results will be old news. I will share more about the speeches and the election at CMS with you next week.

Friday was a day that will be difficult to forget. We were enjoying a wonderful, most welcome rain, but then: group pictures were being taken, salesman here to talk to the students about the jewelry sale, campaign committees meeting, several students going on a field trip, and goodness knows what else. By 10:00 a.m. it seemed as though it should have been 3:00 p.m., if you know what I mean.

The campaign committees have worked really hard with their signs and banners to support their candidates. Sunday was a busy day when they gave up their time to decorate the stage in the cafeteria. They really deserve a big thank you.

As it has been said before and you will hear it again. We stay busy making those Classy Moments at CMS.
