Wimberly Touts Gurdon Band BoostersPublished Wednesday, November 8, 2000 in the Gurdon TimesAllen Wimberly, director of bands in the Gurdon School District, says the Gurdon Band Booster Club is "simply a wonderful organization." "They help the band directors with trips and the students, they make sure the students are fed, they make sure they have a cold drink after a performance, and most of all, they do a great job in the concessions stand," he said in a recent news release. "No one touches our facilities or our performance at the concession stand. Our band boosters make the best food and their service is second to none. A major part of that success is due to Bill and Linda Hulan. These two get ice from Pilgrim's Pride and arrive at the concession stand early to ice down drinks and they and their children help in getting all the soft drinks in the coolers and everything prepped and in order for the fans when they get there, he said. "Not to mention the many times they travel to Sam's to get the items for the concession stand. "Burgers and wieners grilling, nacho cheese so thick and delicious and the oh, so, tasty popcorn are made possible by the Hulans and many other dedicated parents, grandparents and friends of the band," he said. "Thanks so much to all who have helped and will in the concession stand. We are always needing more help and if you want to volunteer, please call me at this office, 353-4951, and I will set you up. "Our boosters are simply the best. Keep up the good work. Thanks." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
