Church Women Meet In Hot Springs

The Women of the Church of God held its annual state convention April 30 and May1 at the Snow Springs Campground in Hot Springs.

Several congregations were represented at the convention. They were Van Buren, New Hope, Gurdon, El Dorado, Little Rock, Oaklawn, Grape Chapel, Crossett and Piggott.

The theme for this year's convention was 'Ordinary Women Extraordinary Purpose.'

The featured speaker was Lillie Stringer of Shreveport, La. She is the national vice president of the WCG. Gail Robinson was worship leader and blessed the ladies with her wonderful singing voice.

Friday's daytime activities included a light breakfast, worship and praise, workshops, business meeting and testimonial service. Connie Huff presented a workshop called 'Prayer-Inner Healing.' Joli Lewis' workshop was entitled 'Women's Fellowship.' Jeannie Burchfield of Gurdon presented the workshop 'History of the Women of the Church of God.'

Friday's evening activities included a banquet with a motivating message from Mrs. Stringer. A time of games followed the banquet.

Saturday began with a breakfast followed by a time of praise and worship. Then the new officers were installed.

Mrs. Stinger presented a challenging message to the women. Scripture references included Luke 7:36, Luke 10:38 and John 11. She encouraged women to rise above their ordinary lives and seek the extraordinary vision and purpose God has for each of us.

Those attending the convention from Gurdon were Jeannie Burchfield, Eulah Wilson, Janet Toland, Velvet Gonzales, Shirley Smithpeters, Floreda Briscoe and Mary Henry.
