Beasley Crowned Miss Gurdon Lakes

Katrina Beasley of Gurdon was named 2000 Miss Gurdon Lake earlier in the year. Beasley was crowned by the 1999 Miss Gurdon Lake, Ashley Dixon.

Helen Dickens, daughter of David and Mae Helen Dickens of Gurdon, was first runner-up and Kea'Landra Ritchie of Gurdon, daughter of Verdie Ritchie, was second runner-up.

Nikima Tinch was the title winner for Junior Miss Gurdon Lake. Tinch is the daughter of Denise Tinch and Patrick Gill. The first runner-up was LaShonda Wells, daughter of Margo Branch. Second runner-up was Toccura Laster, daughter of Donna Laster and Eric Scales.

In the pre-teen division LaDonna Lasker, daughter of Ronnie and Sharon Lasker, was the winner. The first runner-up was Heather Bland, daughter of William and Jeanine Bland. Second runner-up was Bridgett Laster, daughter of Donna Laster.

The Tiny Miss Gurdon Lake winner was LaToya Tinch. LaToya is the daughter of Denise Tinch and Patrick Gill. First runner-up was Daisha Collier. Daisha is the daughter of David and Devonne Collier. Second runner-up was Skikesha Williams, who is the daughter of Wendy Faye Evans and Tom. O. Williams.

Winner in the infant division was Kalen Nicole Jones, the daughter of Michael and Karen Jones. First runner-up was Trya Adams, the daughter of Andre and Gaysha Adams. Second runner-up was Jasmine Jones, the daughter of Cyreta Ollison.

Escorts for the pageant were Derek Anderson, Brannon Hatley, Davion Williams, Chris Thompson and O'Brien Moss.

The master of ceremonies was Jennifer Coleman, 1997 Miss Gurdon Lake. The theme of the pageant was Dreams Can Come True.'

Judges serving for the pageant included Diane Leeper, Ida Tramble, Barbara Briscoe and Joan Henry.

Yvette Anderson was chairperson for the pageant. Venus Talley and Vinita Giles co-chaired.

Special entertainment was provided by Miss Henderson State University, and the 1995 Miss Gurdon Lake title winner, Roxie Hannah. Also performing were Mt. Cannan Baptist Church Praise Team, Brannon Hatley, James Giles Jr., C.C.Y.D.C. Dancers, 1996 Miss Gurdon Lake, Monica Hatley, 1998 Pre-Teen Miss Gurdon Lake Destiny Talley, Rev. Quintin Radford, Georgina Battle and Jennifer Coleman.

Committee chairpersons were Edna Hatley, decorations; Delores Hodge, talent; Rose Crow, souvenir books; Charles Cooper, tally-man; Elmore Gatlin, stage and rehearsal manager; Monica Hatley, choreographers; Charles Anderson, Willie Russey, door workers; Venus Talley, accessories, trophies and awards; and Floreda Briscoe, accountant.
