Oak Grove NewsLULA KENDRICKPublished Wednesday, November 1, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune The 117th session of the West Arkansas annual conference 12th Episcopal District was held October 25-29 at St. Phillips AME Church in Magnolia. Bishop Richard Allen Chappelle presided Mrs. Barbara J. Chappelle Episcopal supervision. Rev. Thomas W. Adair was the presiding elder. Rev. Daniel Lee was host pastor. We had a wonderful conference. It was well attended. We really have a good man for a bishop. He sent all of pastors back where they were. Bishop Chappelle brought the Sunday morning sermon. His text was Mission Committee in Time of Changes.' Ricky Toney was ordained elder. He finished high school at Oak Grove in Rosston. I attended the conference three days. I sure did have a nice time seeing people I had not seen in a long time. The next conference will be held in Arkadelphia next year. The annual fall fest Golden Star Chapter 359 is Saturday, November 4, at 7 p.m. in Oak Grove Civic League building, two miles East of Rosston on Highway 200. Tickets are $5. See any of the Eastern Star sisters. We lost one of our sisters, Maud Young, two weeks ago. She moved away to New Haven community. All of her children finished school at Oak Grove High School. Sympathy goes out to the Young family. A.D. Evans passed away in the nursing home at Prescott. His funeral will be held at Bethel AME Church. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
