Redland NewsHAZEL MEEKSPublished Wednesday, November 1, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune I never like to start with sad news, but Redland has lost two neighbors this past week. Our deepest sympathy goes to the Fred Ridling Sr. family. Not only will the community miss him, but Shady Grove Baptist Church sure lost a faithful member. Winifred Hulan also passed away in a Prescott nursing home. Graveside services were held Monday at Liberty Cemetery. Jerry, Rhonda, Justin and Cole Hillery attended a horse clinic in Hope over the weekend. Tommy Ghormley and Casey Hendrix from Little Rock spent the weekend with their parents, Paul and Linda Ghormley and Junior and Kay Hendrix. Shady Grove Baptist Church entertained about 50 youth and adults Saturday night with a hay ride and wiener roast. They also played games. Jim and Leona Ballard have returned from a short vacation, visiting their daughter, Debbie and her family in New Iberia, La. Their next stop they found their two boys, Jimmy and Brad, just getting over the bug.' The next stop was Denham Springs, La., to see their newest great grandson, Michael Ryan. Of course Grandma Leona came down with the bug.' She soon recovered and enjoyed the trees and flowers that looked just like spring time. Oh, yeah. Jim enjoyed playing in the PHI tournament and saw many of his old friends. Bill Helms from Oklahoma is here to attend Winifred Hulan's funeral and spending a few days with Julene and Willie Hulan. Cody Kisselburg celebrated his fourth birthday Sunday, October 29, with a pirate party. He had nine friends and about 30 family members helping him celebrate. The children enjoyed a treasure hunt, getting tattoos, beards painted on and pirate patches. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
