Club News - Rose Garden

The Rose Garden Club met in the home of Billie McCain on October 17 at 1:30 p.m. with Penny Richards as co-hostess.

Betty Turner, president, presided over the business session.

The president asked Ida Haynie and Allene Spencer to select a book to be placed in the Nevada County Library in the memory of Max Hairston.

Ann Pounds gave a report on the fall flower show. She stated that the judges were impressed with the quality of the show, considering such a dry summer. She also stated that the judges suggested entrants entering pot plants should be sure to groom their plants, cutting off dead leaves and cleaning each leaf.

Karen Richards presented the program on Fall Plantings.' She told how to grow and maintain several flowers, such as, pansies, etc. She also told how to spray pot plants to kill insects before moving them inside.

Ida Haynie brought two beautiful arrangements of roses. The roses were selected from her yard.

After a delicious dessert the members enjoyed a tour of Billy's beautiful home, which is decorated with antiques.
