REX DOLLAR - EXTENSION AGENT, AGRICULTURE

The Nevada, Hempstead and Howard County Extension offices will be sponsoring three meetings this fall and winter concerning issues important to individual land and timber owners. The meeting dates are November 16 and December 7 and January 11.

The first meeting will be on Thursday, November 16, at Southwest Research and Experiment Station near Hope beginning at 12:00 noon. This meeting will address timber management' with some classroom time to discuss EQUIP and forestry cost share programs.

Dr. Frank Roth, University of Arkansas, Cooperative Extension Service Forestry specialist, will lead a tour of sites demonstrating weed control, planting spacing, thinning and fertilization. This particular meeting will include a meal so we are asking that persons interested in attending this meeting to call one of the Extension offices in Nevada, Hempstead or Howard counties to reserve space and lunch.

The second meeting will be held Thursday, December 7, at the Nevada County Farm Bureau office in Prescott. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 8:00 p.m. with Dr. Frank Roth discussing timber marketing.'

The final meeting will be held at the EHC building in Nashville on Thursday, January 11, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Dr. Frank Roth will spend the final meeting discussing timber taxation.'
