Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. PTP membership, sweatshirts and t-shirts are still on sale. The shirts have Curley Wolf Prescott School on them. Order forms have been sent home with students. For more information about them call Roxie Reel at 887-1890. To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376. For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour. The annual meeting of the Morrow Cemetery Association will be at the Prescott Housing Authority community room Sunday, October 29, at 1:30 p.m. A potluck lunch will be served with a business meeting afterwards. The Nevada County Unit of the American Cancer Society will host the monthly chamber coffee Thursday, October 26, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in Central Baptist Church reception hall. Everyone is invited to attend. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Halloween costume contest Tuesday, October 31. This is for businesses and industries in Nevada County. There is no entry fee. Simply call the Chamber at 887-2101 to enter your business. Morris Baptist Church will have a singing Thursday, October 26, at 7 p.m. This will be the last singing for the year until January, because of the holidays. Charles and Sharon Gierth of Prescott are proud to announce the birth of their son, Colton Lane, Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He weighed seven pounds and 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. Proud grandparents are Roy Gierth of Prescott and Wayne and Edna Laird of Gurdon. Big sister is Lacy Dawn of Prescott, who welcomed him home. J. H. Prescott, who attended Emmet Elementary School for his first four school years, is seeking pictures of the old Emmet school between the years of 1922-1925. You are invited to attend a ribbon-cutting and open house for Copies Plus Wednesday, November 1, at 10 a.m. The new business is located at 218 West Second South. The business is located in the same building as Sew Fine. The Chamber of Commerce encourages everyone to attend the ribbon-cutting and to welcome this new business to town.
