It's getting close to time for the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce's fashion show.

The Chamber's annual fashion show will be held, this year, on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Potlatch Building on the Nevada County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., according to Mary Godwin, chamber director.

It is sponsored by retail merchants in Prescott to help show the wide variety of clothing and accessories available locally.

This year's theme is, "A Harvest of Fall Fashions," and will feature professional modeling, along with the luncheon and door prizes.

The lunch menu includes ham and cheese quiche, fruit salad with poppy seed dressing, pumpkin roll, tea and coffee.

Those businesses participating in the show need to have descriptions of their models and clothing to the Chamber by Nov. 3.

Plans include having segments on scarf wear and nail care.

Godwin said beauty shops are being encouraged to participate as they could have customers model the hair styles they create.

Nov. 11 is also the first day of modern gun deer season. Godwin said the Chamber felt this would be an appropriate time for the women in the area to pamper themselves while the men are hunting in the woods.

It's also a chance to show what's available in Prescott and Nevada County, she added, and supporting local businesses.

Tickets for the fashion show will be $8 each and can be picked up at the Chamber office, or from members of the fashion show committee. The committee members are: Barbara Lowdermilk, Carrie Nivens, Joyce Gibson, Lanore Dalrymple and Godwin.

HALLOWEEN CONTEST

The Chamber's annual Halloween Costume Contest will be judged Tuesday, Oct. 31 this year, Godwin said.

Those businesses and individuals planning to enter this event should contact the Chamber by 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30 to enter. There is no entry fee and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners.

Last year, she said, there were about 60 entries, with the Nevada County Picayune winning for the second year in a row.

Once again, the judges will be from out of town and will visit the businesses for the judging.

Prizes will be presented to the top three finishers in each the group and individual divisions. They will be $20 for first place, $15 for second and $10 for third.

Judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
