John Monroe Edwards, 83, of Malvern passed away at his home Friday, October 20, 2000.

Mr. Edwards was born February 24, 1917, at Leola to Clarence and Bertha Brashears Edwards. He was by trade a millwright and of the Methodist faith, having being very faithful to the Keith Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European invasion from D-day until the war was over in Europe. He also was a mason, belonging to Masonic Lodge 58, receiving his 50-year pen in February 1996. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roy Edwards, a sister, Elree Manning, and one grandson, John William (Billy) Carson.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie (Rusher) Williams; one son and daughter-in-law, John O. and Paula Edwards of Dover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marjorie Ann and Don Shepard of Florida, Mary Beth and Bob Turk of Camden and Delores Jester of Little Rock; a brother, Clarence and Ophelia Edwards of Burbon, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Minor and Agnes Bryant both of Malvern; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, October 23, at the Keith Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Diffee officiating. Pallbearers were Scott Carson, John Edwards, Brent Peoples, James Mears, Phillip Lewis and Jeff Roberson. Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern was in charge of arrangements.
