The Oak Grove Community Church on Kansas Road will be hosting a Wiener Roast on Friday, Oct. 27 at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Angelic Voices Gospel Choir from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia will be performing at Muldrew Chapter C.M.E. Church at Fourth and Jones Streets in Gurdon Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3:00 p.m. Many other performers will appear for this fall musical. Everyone is invited to attend.

Clark County Sanitation Department will be offering a road side clean-up Monday, Oct. 30, through Friday, Nov. 3. Deadline to be put on the pick-up list is Friday, Oct. 27. Office hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No garbage or bagged items will be picked up. Neither will tires, batteries, paint, paper, newsprint and cardboard. You must be on the list to receive the road side pick-up service. Call Clark County Sanitation Department at 246-7602 for more details.

Gurdon's recycling trailer will be closed Saturday, Oct. 28, to allow for participation in the Forest Festival. The recycling trailer will be open the following Saturday, Nov. 4, at 8:00 a.m. through 12:00 noon.

All kindergarten students and their parents are encouraged to attend the fourth Partners in Print meeting Monday, Oct. 30, at 6:00 p.m. A light supper will be served. For more information call Pam Runyan at Gurdon Primary School, 353-4321.

Cabe Middle School will have special themes for each day of Red Ribbon Week. Wednesday, Oct. 25, will be Hobo Day; Thursday will be Hugs, Not Drugs (students are encouraged to bring stuffed toys); and Friday everyone is encouraged to wear red.

There will be a benefit program Saturday, Oct. 28, at 7:00 p.m. at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in Prescott for Farrah Flemons, a burn victim who also lost her son. Your help will be doubly appreciated.

First Assembly of God in Gurdon is seeking prayer requests. The church will have a special day of prayer for community needs and other concerns on Sunday, Oct. 29. You may mail, call or bring your requests to 1007 E. Main, Gurdon, AR 71743. the phone number is 353-2804.

Business and Professional Women's regular monthly meeting is held the second Thursday of each month at 12:00 noon at Arkadelphia Baptist Medical Center cafeteria. Any interested women is invited to attend.

Saturday, November 4, Arkadelphia Business and Professional Women will hold its second annual Holiday Bazaar. The club is still looking for crafters or other gift makers or sellers to purchase booth space. BP&W will have a breakfast and lunch concession available.

The Red Springs Extension Homemakers Club meets every second Thursday of each month at the Gurdon Municipal building beginning at 10:00 a.m. Any interested person is welcome to attend.

The city of Gurdon reminds residents the storm sirens are tested every Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Sirens are not tested during inclement weather.

Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
