Caney NewsRUBY WICKERPublished Wednesday, October 18, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune We have several sick folks this week. Bob Lunsford has entered a hospital in Little Rock for some tests. Ann Loe, Margie Reed and I attended a workshop for making holiday vests. Ann and I were instructors and Margie made a vest, her first. She did a very good job. We also had three other ladies who made their first vests. This workshop was sponsored by C&C Extension Homemakers. Dorothy Apel spent several days last week with her nephew, Kenneth, and Shelia Barker of Hot Springs. 77 friends and relatives enjoyed the annual October birthday dinner Sunday of last week at the home of Lucy Glass. Ann Loe and Lucy Glass attended a retreat in Benton for Missionary Baptist women Friday night and Saturday. Bro. Bryant and Betty visited Bro. Junior and Ann Loe Sunday afternoon. Margie Reed, Betty McBride and I ate lunch at Western Sizzlin Sunday and visited with Ethel Ellis afterward. Her son, Al Hart, and his wife, Mary, of Irving, Texas, were visiting her. It was good to see them again. Bro. Tal's dad is having surgery Thursday. We all wish him the best. We have received word that Bradice Wicker's brother, Paul May, is in the hospital in Texarkana in serious condition. Mildred Glass is also in the hospital after suffering a stroke. Revival will be going on at Corinth October 16 through 20. Bro. Tal will be preaching there Thursday evening. C&C Extension Homemakers will meet Thursday evening at 6:30, October 19. After our business meeting we will be making tri-bead iris. We welcome anyone who would like to learn. Certain members of Morris Baptist Church are sponsoring a fall festival October 21. We appreciate the goodies that were donated for this occasion. All, young and old, are invited to visit and enjoy. There was another October birthday celebration Sunday at Bro. Raymond and Phanae Hicks' house. Son Gary celebrated his birthday. His mother said don't say which one. The Hicks' children went to church with Raymond and Phanae, Gary and Loretta Hicks, Gary Harl and Melissa, Terry and Michelle, Paul and a host of grandchildren. All came back to Raymond and Phenae's for lunch. Other visitors were Pickie Cale and Barbara Barber of McCaskill and Bro. Bryant and Betty of Camden. Thought: It's better to be square than go around in the wrong circle. How was your week? Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
