Oak Grove NewsLULA Q. KENDRICKPublished Wednesday, October 18, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune This is the day the Lord has made, let's rejoice and be glad in it. The Young Circuit's appreciation for our pastor Rev. Lessly Banks and his wife will be Sunday afternoon at New Bethel AME Church at 2:30. Rev. Herbert Adams will furnish the music. J.D. Stringer's funeral was held Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willisville. He is Alma Henry Stringer's husband. Sympathy goes out to the Henry and Stringer families over the loss of their loved one. Cora Simpson is in the rehab in Texarkana. Golden Star Chapter 359 will have its annual Fallfest Saturday, November 4, at 7 p.m. at the Oak Grove Civic League Building. Our pastor, Bro. DeWillie Gulley, is still in the rehab in Camden. Let's pray for him. He has served the lodge while being the oldest member serving as patron. We do miss him. Our Civic League is fading out. We need members to help to carry on. Please come out the first Tuesday in November at 6:30 p.m. Oak Grove is still without a pastor. I am sure they are thinking about calling one. I am sure they are praying for a good pastor. Our annual conference will be held October 25-29 at St. Phillips AME Church in Magnolia. Sis. Daisy Gulley is our delegate. This year she will represent the Young Circuit. She made us a good delegate last year. We also have a new bishop this year. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
