Top 10 Grads NamedPublished Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesLeonard Gills, principal of Gurdon High School, has announced the top ten academic graduating seniors of 1998-1999. Valedictorian is Bethany Cooper. She is the daughter of Richard and Becky Cooper of Gurdon. Cooper has received an Alumni Scholarship from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia where she will be attending this fall. She is planning to major in pre-physical therapy. Salutatorian is Mandy Shaver. She is the daughter of Joe and Debora Shaver of Beirne and Barbara Shaver of Louisiana. Shaver has been accepted at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, where she will pursue a degree in pre-nursing. The remainder of the top ten students of the class of 1999 are Josh Griffin, Rachelle Reece, Christopher Wise, Tammie McArty, Phillip McGuirt, Katrina Lacy, Jennifer Kuhn Harrington and Amy Ross.
