Supplemental Security Income pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible call 1-800-772-1213. PTP membership, sweatshirts and t-shirts are still on sale. The shirts have Curley Wolf Prescott School on them. Order forms have been sent home with students. For more information about them call Roxie Reel at 887-1890. To any woman who would like to get together with another woman to pray may get in touch with the local area contact person of Moms in Touch, Beth Ward, at 870-887-6376. For the past three years the local schools have been covered in prayer by a group of moms who meet on Tuesdays at 1:45 at First Baptist Church to pray for one hour. Revival services at Corinth Baptist Church in Bodcaw continues through Friday, October 20. Sunday, October 15, will start at 6 p.m. with Bro. Petie Ward as the evangelist. Services begin at 7:30 each evening. Wednesday, October 18, Bro. Daniel Williams will preach; Thursday, October 19, Bro. Eric Goble; and Friday, October 20, Bro. Jerry Evans. A community fall festival will be held October 21 from 3 p.m. until dark at Morris Baptist Church. Everyone is invited. Make plans to attend and enjoy the fun. A hayride will be held afterwards. Donations of any kind, like bags of candy, soft drinks, cakes, hot dogs, chips, etc, will be appreciated. The Artesian Arts League will have its craft bazaar October 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church gymnasium. You may get some early holiday shopping done at the bazaar. There will also be a food booth where you can have lunch. The annual meeting of the Morrow Cemetery Association will be at the Prescott Housing Authority community room Sunday, October 29, at 1:30 p.m. A potluck lunch will be served with a business meeting afterwards. The Fourth Congressional District candidate forum will be held Tuesday, October 24, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Prescott High School auditorium. This forum gives everyone the opportunity to find out where their candidates stand. Refreshments will be served. The Nevada County Unit of the American Cancer Society will host the monthly chamber coffee Thursday, October 26, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in Central Baptist Church reception hall. Everyone is invited to attend. The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Halloween costume contest Tuesday, October 31. This is for businesses and industries in Nevada County. There is no entry fee. Simply call the Chamber at 887-2101 to enter your business. The Butler, Fore and Bennett reunion will be held at Union Baptist Church Saturday, October 21. The church is located north of Bodcaw on Highway 53. Be sure to take a potluck lunch.
