Letter To The Editor - No Geraldo Rivera

Published Wednesday, October 18, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune

I can't help but chuckle at your effort to expose these awful city employees that have taken advantage of our city utilities. Your need to be our Geraldo Rivera is a bit much for me.

Having knowledge of some of the other folks that have been delinquent in their utility paying habits would make one believe that the old adage "People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" might well come into play in this "hurricane force" issue.

Personally I am tired of such immature behavior and know of several regular advertisers in the Picayune that feel the same way.

My next approach would be to submit a letter for publication in the Picayune naming "all" of those delinquent over the past several years. Knowing that this would fall on deaf and partisan ears, I think my best bet is the Arkansas Democrat letters page. I am regularly published on that page (20 letters in the past 18 months). I guarantee it would be printed there. If not it would be the first of mine they chose not to print.

The point is, that the power of the press is not limited to your views.
