Action Abounds In Youth Flag Football LeagueBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 11, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune Three touchdowns by Steven Kehner led the Chiefs past the Falcons in the Prescott Youth Flag Football League on Sept. 26. Kehner scored one of his three touchdowns on a punt return. Marcus Banks scored for the Falcons, while Job Rabideau made several good runs and played a solid defense in the second and third grade division. For the 4-6 grade class, the Cardinals whipped the Broncos. Camron Wilson had two picks, while Travaro Coulter scored twice for the Cards. Calvin Brown led the Broncos in rushing, while Daron Burks and Matt Hull were defensive standouts in the game. In the other game, the Steelers blasted the Cowboys. Ben Smith led the Steelers' passing attack, with Gavan McCauley being his primary target. Cade Richards excelled in the kicking game. Keyon Ross scored a touchdown for the Cowboys. On Tuesday, Oct. 3, in the second and third grade group, the Giants beat the Chiefs with London Cole and Johnathan Burks scoring touchdowns. James Colbert added the point after. Dubois Rhone made a good kick return for the Giants, while Jalan Box led the team in tackling. Hannah Hull was the leading tackler for the Chiefs. In the first game of the 4-6 group, the Broncos and Cowboys tied. Drew Loe scored for the Broncos, while Daron Burk kicked well. LaGorgio Gulley and Jacob Clark were the defensive standouts. Ray Smith scored for the Pokes. The Cards remained undefeated by taking it to the Steelers. Joel Hodges scored two touchdowns for the Cards, while Coulter returned two interceptions for touchdowns against the Steelers. Cody Camp led the Steeler defense, while Max Hamilton was the team's leading receiver. Garrett Crellin scored a touchdown for the squad. Standings in the second and third grade division show the Giants at 1-0, Chiefs are 1-1 and Falcons are 0-1. For the 4-6 crew, the Cards are perfect at 2-0; the Steelers are 1-1, and the Broncos and Cowboys have identical 0-1-1 records. On Oct. 17, in the 4-6 class, the Steelers and Falcons will lock horns at 6:30 p.m., while the Cards and Broncos tie into one another at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all games is $1 per person over 12 years old.
