Victor Dee Rettmann Jr., 67, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 27, 2000, in Texarkana, Texas.

Mr. Rettmann was born on Sept. 12, 1933, the fourth of seven children of Victor Dee and Hazel Rettmann. He was a retired Baptist minister and superintendent of Lockesburg Schools. He made his home at Lockesburg for the past six years. He and his wife of 45 years, Julia Friday-Rettmann, lived in rural Howard County for approximately 15 years prior to moving to Lockesburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, F.H. Rettmann.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Rettmann is survived one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Karen Rettmann of Waldron; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Dusty Currey of Gurdon and Angela and Jeffrey Tipton of Lockesburg; three brothers, Calvin Rettmann of Nashville, Ed Rettmann of Craig, Colo., and James Rettmann of Jarvis, Ore.; two sisters, Fern York of Nashville and Wilma Egleston of Delta, Colo.; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren: Lindsay Rettmann, Cameron Coston, jaron Tipton, Calan Tipton, Kyle Currey, Darren Suitor and Dustin Suitor.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 30, in Lockesburg First Baptist Church with Revs. Jay McAlister and Don Jones officiating. Burial was in Oddfellows section of the Lockesburg Cemetery under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home of De Queen.
