Douglas Edward Stafford

Douglas Edward Safford, 56, of Mt. Morris, Mich., died Wednesday, September 18, 2000.

Mr. Stafford was born January 29, 1944, in Gurdon to Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Stafford. He was a graduate of Bell High School in Gurdon and Tyler Barber College in Little Rock. He retired from Buick, a division of General Motors, in 1981. He was a member of the Detroit Street Church of God. Mr. Stafford was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Stafford, and a brother, Milton F. Stafford.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Stafford of Mt. Morris, Mich.; two daughters, Felecia Emmitt-Lando of Seattle, Wash., and Terrie A. Stafford of Mt. Morris; one son, Albert J. Stafford, of Mt. Morris; four grandchildren, Kima, Charisse and Sean, all of Flint, Mich., and Whitney of Cincinnati, Ohio; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis and Beattrice Stafford of Gurdon; one sister, Gloria Whitmore (Robert) of Lansing, Mich; three brothers, Harold Stafford (Velvia) of Dover, Del., Phillip Stafford of Daly City, Calif., and Michael Stafford (Gracie) of Little Rock; and a host of other relatives and special friends.

Michigan services were held Thursday, Sept. 21, at Detroit Street Church of God in Flint with Bishop Herbert Dudley officiating. The Arkansas service was held at Roanoke Baptist Church near Gurdon with Rev. Troy Hearn officiating. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia. Michigan services by Moon Funeral Home of Flint, Mich.
