Douglas Byron Waters, 81, of Hope died Monday, September 25, 2000.

Mr. Waters was born November 29, 1918, in Rosston to Willard Owen and Alta Lee Warmack Waters. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department and he was a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel, who served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a mason, a member of the American Legion and attended Patmos Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. and Mary Sue Waters; and a sister, Edna Ruth Waters Holland.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Margaret Louise Kent Waters, a daughter and son-in-law, Jenny Lee and Ben Gee Waller Jr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas Kent and Lawana Waters and James Bryon Waters; three grandchildren; Todd Waller, Wendy Cox and Brandon Waters; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 28, at Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Joe Wright officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.
