Rosston NewsMARGUERITE WILLIAMSPublished Wednesday, September 27, 2000 in the Nevada County Picayune The Lord has finally answered our prayers for rain and it is greatly appreciated. Several ladies from our church attended a pink and blue shower for Miranda Jackson at the home of our pastor's wife Sunday afternoon. She received very useful gifts from the ladies in spite of having to brave the rain. I've had a bad sinus infection since last Wednesday. My brother and his wife of Hope and Minnie Ella's sister and her husband, Devere and Nadra Jessup of Perrytown and our son, Jim, of Prescott attended the Centimental Journey of the World War I and II veterans at the airport in Hope on Wednesday afternoon. We really enjoyed the program and the refreshments were super. It was good to visit with old war buddies. Each one of them received a beautiful medallion. Roscoe and I went to Prescott and visited his sister, Venetal Bustin, in Hillcrest Care Center and then had supper with Jimmy at the Fish Nest. Guests in church Sunday were Charles and Jo Caldwell. They are spending a few days at their Rosston vacation home. Charles is working on his deer stand. Bro. Petie's nephew was also a guest. He spent Saturday night with them. Ellis and Winnie Bailey had a narrow escape Sunday on their way home from church. A tree fell in front of them and they ran into it. Their car was damaged, but they weren't hurt. They were just shook up. Tommie Lew Jarvis was taken to the emergency room in Hope Sunday morning about church time. She was having a stomach problem, but nothing was found in x-rays. Pray that she will soon be home. She had tests on Monday. Ruth Vinson was brought home from Magnolia Hospital Sunday after spending 11 days there. She needs our prayers. My brother and his wife gave Roscoe and me a grand tour of the Southwest Proving Ground and showed me where I was raised. I couldn't find our home place when I had looked several months ago or where New Hope Baptist Church originally was. Things sure look different. The trees are so big after 55 years. We went back on Saturday night to the U.S.O. show. Henderson College Band and Dance Club entertained us with lots of old songs and good jitter bugging, which brought back memories. I'm afraid it rained out the air show Sunday afternoon. We had supper at Catfish King with Billy and Minnie Ella before the show. Lyn Dean Morman went to her eye doctor in Arkadelphia this week and had the laser used on one of her eyes. Dail and Marjorie Evans went to Dail's dermatologist in Texarkana this week. Mary Joe Gregory went with them and they did some shopping. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
