A musical program was held at Bethel AME Church Saturday night, September 23. It was very nice. Almost all the surrounding churches participated. We had a wonderful time in the Lord. We had a special guest, Sis. Teresa Walker of Hope, Sunday morning. She really did bring us a good message. She is a member of Rising Star Baptist Church in Hope.

Our presiding elder's appreciation was held at Ward Chapel AME Church with Rev. T.W. Adair from Magnolia District. He has made us a good elder. We have a new bishop in the 12th District. He is Bishop Chappelle. Bishop Talbot was sent to the 13th District.

A tent revival was held at the Church of God in Christ in the Oak Grove community. It was very much needed. We need to get together. We are serving the same God. People won't go to anyone else's church, just their own and say they are Christian.

Sis. Margie Mixon Dansby is celebrating her 5th anniversary Saturday, October 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Oak Grove Civic League building. All groups, soloists and choirs please register on arrival. Sis. Margie Dansby will be ministering in song. Music will be by Oak Grove Baptist Church's choir.

Usher day will be held October 1 at 2:30 p.m. with guest minister Rev. Alonzo Ray. Guest churches will be Mt. Zinia, New Zion Hill Baptist Church of Stephens. The emcee will be Sis. Annie Lowe.

Claudell Moss's funeral was Saturday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was the brother of Gladys Williams. Sympathy goes out to the Moss and Williams families.

Our annual conference has been changed from Texarkana to St. Phillips in Magnolia. I hope we will have a good conference. It will be in October. More people will attend since it is close and they can meet our new sishop. Special kudos go to Bishop Vashti McKenzie, who made history as the first female bishop of the AME Church. This was the time Bishop Vashti was the chosen one. I could not go to the general conference. I am a dedicated person to the AME Church.
