Two area men have been arrested in connection with the theft of band instruments from Gurdon High School.

The theft from GHS occurred Monday, May 3, with several instruments being taken. According to a release from the Clark County Sheriff's Office, the value of the instruments taken was $10,000.

On Wednesday, May 5, the CCSO got a call from a local dealer in musical instruments stating two people were trying to sell instruments apparently connected with the GHS robbery.

With this information, CCSO deputies arrested Kenneth Paul Hookfin, 21, of Arkadelphia, and Terrace Daniel Baker, 19, of Gurdon. Both were charged with commercial burglary and theft of property.

A juvenile female was also apparently involved and was charged with theft of property.

These arrests led to the recovery of all of the stolen instruments.

And, according to the report, these arrests helped clear up a break and burglary in at the Gurdon Middle School cafeteria, occurring Jan. 13, 1999, along with the breaking or entering of four soft drink machines at GMS.

Baker was charged with a second count of commercial burglary and four counts of breaking or entering in connection with the GMS crimes.
